Coming SoonValeant's Latin America region is comprised of Mexico and Brazil. Valeant Latin America is formed by Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Grossman Laboratories and Tecnofarma S.A. de C.V., all three of which are responsible for the manufacturing and marketing of Valeant's generic pharmaceuticals, primarily in the areas dermatology, gynecology, and pain management as well as OTC products. Valeant Mexico is also made up of NYSCO, which is responsible for healthcare research, logistics, and the distribution center for Mèxico and the rest of Latin America. Valeant Latin America employs approximately 1,300 people.
Valeant acquired Tecnofarma in 2009, a producer of generic pharmaceuticals which has a number of manufacturing sites including a new 160,000 square foot manufacturing plant that will allow our Latin America business to reduce its independence upon third party manufacturers. As a result of this transaction, Valeant acquired 80 registered products that may be introduced into Valeant's branded generic platform in Mexico.
In 2010, Valeant acquired two private branded generic and OTC pharmaceutical companies in Brazil along with a new 165,000 square foot manufacturing plant approved to produce solids, semi-solids and liquids. These transactions advance Valeant's dermatology presence in the Brazilian dermatology and pharmaceutical markets. The new state of the art manufacturing plant will allow Valeant to close its current subscale manufacturing facility and eliminates the need for any third party manufacturers.
Valeant Latin America's key products are Bedoyecta®, Espaven, MVI, Dolo Bedoyecta®, Vilona/Virazide, Eni, Femisan, Efudix®, Dermatix, DerfinaDaivonex/Daivobet, Fucidin/Fucicort, Isoface, Yuredol, Mestinòn®, and Prostigmine.
