Ange Gerhart

Who am I?

I am Ange Gerhart, Product Manager at Valeant. I have been in the prestige clinical cosmetic industry for nearly six years. I have had the privilege of working with and developing a number of brands including Glo Minerals, Cellex-C, Sonic Youth Systems, ScarGuard, Skin Answer and most recently, Kinerase and Zeatin. My passion for the industry is driven by personal experience from a car accident almost ten years ago that left me with facial scars. Experiencing the physical and emotional transformation from plastic surgery and various topical clinical cosmetics guided me into one of the fastest growing, most intriguing industries of our time, an industry where cosmetic and pharmaceutical worlds work in synergy to deliver a new category of cosmetics to market to meet the needs of discerning consumers and physicians alike.

Why Valeant?
I chose to join Valeant Pharmaceuticals International because it is a research-based specialty pharmaceutical company with a new and exhilarated management team. The company has undergone many positive changes over a very short period of time and has exhibited the ability to be an industry leader in both dermatological drugs and clinical cosmetics. The company's pipeline is promising in many segments with Viramidine and Remofovir on accelerated time lines and Zeatin just around the corner. Valeant is a medium-sized pharmaceutical company that functions with the zeal and passion of a privately owned corporation. Valeant employees are collectively passionate about achieving great things and responding quickly to market needs and opportunity. These many attributes correlate and provide daily opportunities for professional and personal growth, achievements and relationship building.

The Valeant Experience
My experience at Valeant has been remarkable. I have had the opportunity to work with several departments within the company to quickly respond to market and customer needs in launching new line extensions, expanding Kinerase channel distribution, and introducing new products on an accelerated time line most manufacturing groups would deem impossible. Valeant is a perfect example of the strength of an organization relating directly to the strength of its employees. The company is quickly transforming into a specialized, efficient machine as a result of its management team and the talent of its many dedicated employees.

The Opportunity
The future at Valeant looks bright. The company has proven to deliver what it has promised, and there are many exciting new initiatives emerging for the near term. An active pipeline, substantial employee talent and dedication and new research unfolding are just a few things that support a promising future full of achievement with Valeant Pharmaceuticals. Being a part of such a talented and driven organization makes every day a bit different from the last, and always holds something intriguing to shoot for on the horizon.

Marco V. Mejia

Who am I?

My name is Marco V. Mejia. I'm currently the Procurement Director for the Americas. I have the pleasure and fortune of living in Costa Rica with the blessing of my wife and five children. I have more than 22 years of experience in biologic, chemical and pharmaceutical companies in Latin America, North America and Europe. The best times I have in my life are when I can spend time with my lovely family, which is the center of my life. Also, my other passion is golfing on the weekends with my relatives and friends. As a certified CPM, I have a degree in Industrial Engineering along with a MBA in Marketing.

Why Valeant?
To be extremely honest, it is because of the quality of people that are within Valeant. These people are very ethical, honest and well recognized in the industry as some of its best leaders. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this company and work alongside some of the most talented people in the pharmaceutical industry. The company's values are aligned with my own personal values and that is why I have chosen Valeant. The challenge to create a new organization from almost zero was the second driver in joining this company. It has been a challenge to create a new Global Procurement Organization by reinventing the procurement function with the full support of the Board of Directors. Finally and most importantly, the challenge of being part of a growing company and to be part of that success is what has drawn me to Valeant.

The Valeant Experience
Since joining Valeant, I have recognized the company's potential for success due to the quality of the executives and its people. Secondly, Global Manufacturing & Supply, Commercial and the Research & Development teams are very aggressive in their pursuit of success. People at Valeant have passion for what they do and work with an extremely high sense of urgency. Valeant is a very progressive company and I want to be part of that professional experience. I spend everyday welcoming the professional and personal challenges Valeant offers. I constantly reinvent myself in order to address these challenges but without compromising what is most important to me, my family. Valeant is a company designed for individuals who have high aspirations to reach results within a team oriented environment.

The Opportunity
The future at Valeant looks bright. The company has proven to deliver what it has promised, and there are many exciting new initiatives Valeant presents a valuable long-term opportunity for me and was a determining factor in my decision to join the company. Being part of a growing company will present many new challenges and opportunities for me. I can continue my career at Valeant by exploring future opportunities within the Global Procurement Organization or perhaps contribute in others areas of the business for example within Operational Excellence initiatives or as a General Manager of a commercial region.

My name is Brian Murphy and I am the Senior Director of Medical Projects at Valeant. I am a board-certified internist with a background in infectious diseases and clinical epidemiology, my current research focus being viral hepatitis. I completed my post-graduate medical training at Tufts and Harvard in Boston and earned my MBA at Columbia in New York. After serving in various capacities in academia, including directing health care outcomes for a large health-care network in New York, I entered industry, serving as Medical Director at Roche working in the areas of hepatitis and HIV medicine prior to joining Valeant.

Why Valeant?
Despite being a small company, Valeant possesses a big vision. The company is led by an experienced team that has a proven track record at all levels of drug development and commercialization. Additionally, the team is focused with realistic, yet challenging goals. Taken together, I believe that Valeant offers the greatest chance for professional and self-growth.

The Valeant Experience
The small team environment allows members to contribute and have a sense of personal accomplishment in their work. This also allows for interaction with decision makers in the company, an experience that is sometimes lacking in the traditional Big Pharma environment.
